Michelle Salzman withdrew from the race just hours before she would've had to resign her seat in the Florida Legislature.

State Rep. Michelle Salzman will remain in the Legislature after all. The Escambia County Republican announced that she will not run for Congress in Florida’s 1st Congressional District, less than a week after saying she would compete for former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz’s open seat.

The endorsement by Trump to fill the seat, once held by Matt Gaetz, prompted a local state representative to drop out of the race. Michelle Salzman stated on social media she's backing patrons after Trump's endorsement.
