The school district said the closures allowed for a deep cleaning after it reported on Thursday that 761 students and 63 school-level staff members were sick.
According to the Polk County School District, there have been “excessive” student absences related to the norovirus and flu.
The district says it currently has nearly 800 students and more than 60 staff members with reported illnesses.
The district said the closure will also allow for additional recovery time for those who are affected by these viruses.
