Firefighters are battling a brush fire in east San Diego County near Sunrise Highway & Penny Pines Trailhead on Wednesday.
Crews stopped the forward rate of spread of the Penny Fire at 9 acres. It burned near Sunrise Highway and the Penny Pines Trailhead.
A brush fire sparked on Mount Laguna Wednesday afternoon. Crews with the Cleveland National Forest were first called to the area along Sunrise Highway near the Penny Pines Trailhead just before 2 p.m.
No structures were threatened as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday as firefighters attacked the brush fire from the ground and sky, per the Forest Service.
