Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (THPS) was released 25 years ago on Sept. 29, 1999, and the franchise it spawned became a cultural phenomenon that forever altered not only the video game industry but for the sport of skateboarding itself. The game launched the PlayStation console but was later adapted for Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast and N-Gage.

It’s been about four years since the last Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater launched. Since then, Activision has closed up the studio behind the last THPS and seemed uninterested in making more. But legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk himself has confirmed he’s working with the publisher again on “something” that THPS fans will “appreciate.

Tony Hawk is certain "there will be a future" for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater as he celebrates the game's 25th anniversary. Taking to Instagram to share a few words, Hawk posted a few behind-the-scenes clips of the beloved video game and wrote,
