Fournier, 61, took a tragic turn after her body was found over the weekend in Welches, Oregon, an unincorporated community at the base of Mount Hood.

A body found in the Welches area Friday was identified by authorities as a 61-year-old woman initially believed to have gone missing while hiking in the Mt. Hood area.

On Saturday, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 71-year-old Michel Fournier, who was charged with second-degree murder. Michel is reportedly the victim's husband.

On Friday morning, November 29, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was called to Welches on the report of a body being found off of East Miller Road.

The body of missing hiker Susan Lane-Fournier, 61, was discovered near Welches, Oregon, following a weeklong search. Authorities have ruled her death a homicide, and her husband, Michel Fournier, 71, has been charged with second-degree murder, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
