The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued the following alerts: …WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 10 PMEST THURSDAY… PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Slow down and use caution while traveling.

The National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory at 5:38 a.m. EST on Monday in effect until Tuesday at 1 a.m. EST for Alger, Luce and Schoolcraft counties.

On Wednesday at 3:12 p.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid for Thursday between midnight and 10 p.m. for Northern Wayne as well as Bradford and Susquehanna counties.

Millions of people from the Ohio Valley to the mid-Atlantic and Northeast are in the path of a brewing winter storm that’s expected to dump heavy snow over the higher elevations, while major cities along the Interstate 95 corridor receive much-needed rainfall.

The Tri-State Area is on Red Alert this morning due to snow and expanding winter weather alerts. As of this morning, several counties northwest of New York City are under a winter storm advisory, and counties further out are under winter storm warnings.
