As perhaps expected, you’ll need a Microsoft account to play Forza Horizon 5 on the PS5. This has been a pretty consistent feature across all of Xbox’s multiformat ports, and doesn’t appear to be changing with the anticipated open world racer.

Some of PlayStation's single-player games have since had their PSN account requirements removed due to the backlash, but Sony president Hiroki Totoki suggested just a few months ago that forcing a PlayStation Network account for "live service" titles on PC was important in order for players to "enjoy the games safely".

Confirmation comes from a FAQ posted to the Forza support website: “Yes, in addition to a PSN account you’ll need to link to a Microsoft account in order to play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. This process begins the first time you start up the game on your console.”
