Longtime Seattle Mariners announcer Dave Sims has been named as the new radio voice of the New York Yankees. The two-time Emmy Award winner, who has called Mariners games for the past 18 years, is returning to New York to replace John Sterling, who retired after a legendary career.

Dave Sims has been hired to become the new radio voice of the New York Yankees, the team and Sims announced Thursday on social media. “We’re thrilled to welcome Dave Sims as the new play-by-play voice of the Yankees on WFAN660,” the club announced in a social media post.

Dave Sims is replacing John Sterling as Suzyn Waldman’s play-by-play partner on New York Yankees radio broadcasts.
