Shubman Gill scored 112 in 102 balls as India thrashed England by 142 runs in their third one-day cricket international for a 3-0 series sweep

Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel smashed half-centuries as India defeated England by four wickets in the opening one-day international on Thursday and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series that is a warmup for the Champions Trophy.

England were white-washed by India in their ODI series as the hosts proved to be too powerful with bat and ball throughout the series and increased the pressure on England ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Debutant Harshit Rana has grabbed three wickets and vice-captain Shubman Gill has hit 87 runs off 96 balls for India to beat England by four wickets in the first one-day international in Nagpur.

India claimed an unassailable 2-0 lead over England after captain Rohit Sharma's rapid hundred secured a four-wicket win in the second one-day international on Sunday.

India made their selection and strategic calls in the IND vs ENG ODI series with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in mind. India won all three ODIs with comfortable margins. This series gave them plenty of positives in terms of individuals and huge confidence heading into the Champions Trophy.

India cleared 300+ runs in all three of their Cuttack ODIs in 2014, 2017 and 2019 and if they do so again Shubman will likely make a notable contribution, not least because he has cleared 35+ runs in 14 of his last 22 ODI innings on Indian soil.
