Some Republicans expressed doubt that Medicaid cuts are coming. Alternative changes suggested included work requirements and anti-fraud efforts.

It came about a week after Nevada Department of Health and Human Services Director Richard Whitley told lawmakers Nevada could lose almost $1.9 billion in federal funding for a Medicaid expansion program covering roughly 300,000 Nevadans as well as for supplemental payment programs if Congress moves forward with cuts.

Governor Joe Lombardo has expressed strong opposition to potential Medicaid cuts, warning of the severe impact on nearly 800,000 Nevadans who depend on the prog
