Top Haitian-American community leaders in South Florida are pleading to President Donald Trump to prevent a humanitarian disaster by reversing the administration decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status,

Miami-Dade and Broward community leaders and activists said Monday they are sending a letter to President Donald Trump asking for a sit-down to discuss the recent decision by the administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haiti.

TPS is a humanitarian program created by the U.S. Congress with the goal of providing people with the opportunity to legally find short-term refuge in America.
