Instant messaging service WhatsApp appears to have gone down Friday, according to Downdetector.com. User reports of problems with the chat app appeared to spike Friday morning with a majority of users — 54% — reporting problems with sending messages.

Overall, 56 per cent of people are reporting having issues with sending messages, while a further 32 per cent were having issues connecting to the service. Additionally, 12 per cent of people were reporting problems with the app in general.
