Taylor immediately appealed after Judge Dayna Blazey sentenced the 32-year-old cop to two years in prison. She later agreed to release him on bond.

Judge Dayna Blazey on Tuesday sentenced Austin police officer Christopher Taylor to two years in prison in his conduct case. He is out on an appellate bond and not in custody. In October, a jury found him guilty of deadly conduct in the 2019 police shooting of Mauris DeSilva.

Taylor was convicted in October of deadly conduct for killing Mauris DeSilva. It was the first conviction of an on-duty officer in the department's modern history. He has appealed.
