For an Ontario bride-to-be, the Canada Post strike means no wedding flowers on her big day. Katherine Edwards, a resident of Midland, Ont., is scheduled to get married on Dec. 7 and she is missing her artificial flowers because they are stuck in the mail due to the national postal strike.

Canada Post says it's missed out on delivering an estimated 10 million parcels as a strike by more than 55,000 workers across the country continues ahead of Black Friday.

Aklilu Wendaferew, the executive director of Good Shepherd Ministries — located at Queen and Parliament Sts. — said there are about 5,000 letters seeking donations stuck in the mail as a result of the strike. The labour stoppage came at a time when fund-raising efforts typically yield $500,000, added Wendaferew.

Anyone who relies on City of Toronto services and programs has likely seen a disruption in all mail-related activities.

For parents who wish to send a letter to Santa, envelopes can also be put into the mailbox, addressed to Santa at the North Pole, with the postal code H0H 0H0. Postage stamps are not required. If that isn’t an option, you may also leave a letter out for Santa on Christmas Eve.
