Gov. Kathy Hochul’s delayed passage of congestion pricing for political reasons was an attempt to elect more Democrats for the House of Representatives. With the 2024 elections now substantially over, Hochul has reintroduced the program. Allocating congestion pricing funds to the current fiscal structure of the MTA is a planned mistake!

Gov. Kathy Hochul has revived a controversial congestion pricing plan for drivers entering Manhattan at 60 th Street and below by knocking $6 off the $15 toll she rejected in June. The new $9 toll would need to be approved by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board at a meeting next week. If approved, it would go into effect in January.

Still, one of the city's most preeminent congestion pricing advocates will be holding his breath until Jan. 5.
