The Peacock and Sky dramatic series “The Day of the Jackal” was renewed for a second season, the streamer and broadcaster announced Thursday.

The thriller show from Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett is also Sky's biggest launch in more than two years, beating The Last of Us to the title. An HBO acquisition, the post-apocalyptic drama achieved a viewership of 2.63 million in its first seven days.

The Day of the Jackal Season 2 is officially on the way, as the Peacock and Sky Original thriller series has been renewed for a new season. The new season was officially announced in a new video released by Peacock on their Instagram account.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Day Of The Jackal “ranked among the top five original streaming series in the U.S. for its opening weekend, based on preliminary Nielsen data,” and in the U.K. became Sky Atlantic’s best series debut in two years.

The Day of the Jackal has been a major hit for Sky, becoming the biggest Original drama ever to be released on the platform - and so unsurprisingly the show will be returning for round two - and we couldn't be more excited!

Peacock has renewed the Eddie Redmayne-led assassin thriller for Season 2, TVLine has learned, just eight days after its debut. Redmayne stars as the Jackal, a highly paid hitman who hops around the globe snuffing out targets while eluding capture.
