Alabama football's 2025 quarterback battle has officially begun in spring ball. With the Crimson Tide's first spring practice, Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell each took the field vying to be the next starting quarterback at Alabama with Jalen Milroe off to the NFL.

Alabama football will be without several players this spring. Second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer provided a lengthy injury update immediately after the Crimson Tide’s first spring practice on Monday.

The second year of the Kalen DeBoer era has officially begun, as the Crimson Tide began its spring practice schedule Monday which will culminate in the team's annual A-Day spring game at noon April 12 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. But while spring practice has started, Alabama will not have a full roster at its expense.

The times are certainly changing. Some college football programs are modifying their spring games. Others are getting rid of them entirely. What about Alabama football? Coach Kalen DeBoer told On3 recently that Alabama’s A-Day spring game will be modified.
