Facing Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, Ohtani worked a full count before launching an opposite-field home run, a no-doubt shot that sent a clear message—his surgically repaired left shoulder isn’t slowing him down.

Ohtani hits a home run in his first at-bat of spring training and says he felt “no discomfort” in his surgically-repaired left shoulder during any of his swings on Friday night.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani will make his first spring training appearance of the year on Friday night against his old team, the Los Angeles Angels. Ohtani, 30, will be the designated hitter.
