As public anger in Worcester boils over the controversial arrests of a woman and her teen daughter last week, City Hall will close early on Tuesday and a City Council meeting will be held on Zoom. The decision was made “Due [to] public safety concerns, out of an abundance of caution,” Tom Matthews, Worcester city spokesperson, said in a statement.

A Worcester City Council meeting and a budget hearing scheduled for Tuesday will both be held over Zoom, officials said.

WORCESTER ― City Hall will be closed to the public at 5 p.m. on May 13 due to safety concerns, the city has announced. The City Council meeting and the budget hearing at the Standing Committee on Finance will be held virtually via Zoom.
