Pixelated graphics are very popular in the indie space now, so 8-bit, 16-bit, and even 32-bit retro pixel games fit in perfectly. Early 3D games are really starting to show their age, which is why remakes like Crash and Spyro I think are more popular alternatives.

Prices will cool off, while a few standouts remain high. I started collecting in 1992, when that just wasn't really a thing. By 1995 there were retro get togethers for Atari, Intellivision, etc. The first convention happened in 1999 (Classic Gaming Expo, Las Vegas).
