Lapping jugs to heads today. I've talked to some old mechanics that say this isn't a necessary step, but I think it's good to do regardless.There is no head gasket between the head and cylinder, so lapping the two together just insures you'll have a perfectly tight fit. Once you mate one with the other it'll be important not to mix them up, as they'll be a matching pair now. So keep track of which goes where in whatever way you think will be best.
