Roy Sullivan, a Virginia park ranger, survived being struck by lightning seven times between 1942 and 1977. His first strike hit him in a fire lookout tower. Over the years, bolts burned off his hair, scarred his body, and even struck him in his own front yard. Dubbed the “Human Lightning Rod,” Roy became a legend but also an outcast. People feared standing near him during storms. Despite the odds, he lived through every strike. In 1983, at 71, Roy died not from lightning but from heartbreak. |
