A little birdie told us that you can meet some fun, feathered friends! The behind-the-scenes Avian Encounter tour allows guests to enjoy a meet-and-greet with the birds and bird trainers. “Whoooooo” wouldn’t want a picture with an owl? Or interact with a macaw that recycles? This tour is for all bird enthusiasts eager to learn about these amazing birds. All recipients for the tour must be ages 5 and older. Spring has arrived at the Saint Louis Zoo North Campus! Though most of the Zoo’s team is working from home, Zoo scientists are continuing to collect data from afar. We have camera “traps” hard at work collecting photos and videos so we can document and better understand the diversity of native species at this site. Look who's Jetting around behind the scenes! Baby Asian elephant Jet reached a new milestone last week when he explored the Zoo's largest behind-the-scenes elephant habitat, The Staenberg Group Elephant Woods, for the first time. Jet lived up to his name by zooming around and running to "tag" mom Jade and "auntie" Sri. In his first months of life, Jet has been a quick learner with a spunky personality.
